Let’s talk about the foods that are really great for the immune system.
Like we talked about in the GI tract and the microbiome videos, we know that apple cider vinegar helps maintain a healthy gut flora with good probiotics. It keeps the digestive immune system really strong with the acidity.
So, the key to why apple cider vinegar and the other foods that I’m going to mention help is the fermentation really because it provides a lot of great probiotics.
Other good fermented foods are sauerkraut, miso, natto, and kimchi.
They are really good fermented foods that can give you good probiotics to support your immune system.
However, one word of caution is if you have systemic candida, then fermented foods may be welcome, but also may not be welcome. It really depends on the person, so you need to talk to your coach if you do have that issue.
Of course, another one is garlic. Garlic contains a chemical called adenosine which helps support the immune system, improves blood circulation, and reduces stress and anxiety. So it is very good.
Unfortunately, garlic can be quite burning in the gastric system if you’re not careful. So if you have a weak stomach, then you have to be more careful with that.
Another wonderful food that we really recommend a lot of our clients to even take in the beginning is broth. Chicken broth or beef broth is great because it’s packed with nutrients and minerals to help support the immune system.
Even your traditional home remedy, soup, can work. It’s very soothing during these times too.
Ginger is also a very powerful antioxidant that’s naturally in our food. It reduces inflammation, so it helps with the inflammation circuit. It also helps detox as well, and it aids in digestion. So taking some ginger during these times will help to help boost your immune system.
Another one is beets. They are a great detoxifier which, as we saw with the detox circuit, is important to the immune system. So beets are a great food to even add to the food that you’re eating.
Of course, turmeric has been used for centuries. It’s a great anti-inflammatory agent. It improves liver functions, and it boosts the immune system as well.
