This simple herbed rice recipe goes great as a side dish with many meals, and the herbs add an extra flair of tang and nutrients that you can customize to your taste and to go with the rest of your meal.

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup long-grain white rice, soak at least 2 hours, rinsed and drained
  • 3 tbsp unsalted butter
  • 1 garlic clove, minced
  • 1 white onion, chopped
  • 1 ½ cup water
  • 1 tsp Kosher salt
  • ÂĽ cup chopped herbs such as parsley, tarragon, and chives
  • Kosher salt

Method:

  1. Melt the butter in a medium saucepan on low heat. Add the chopped onion and cover, cooking over low heat for five minutes, or until translucent.
  2. Add the garlic and stir.
  3. Add the rice, stir, then add 1 ½ cups of water and 1 tsp of salt. Bring to a boil on high heat.
  4. Cover the rice cook for 10 minutes on medium-low heat.
  5. Remove from heat and uncover.
  6. Let stand for five minutes, then fluff the rice with forks.
  7. Stir in chopped herbs. Salt to taste. Cover with a towel and let stand for another 30 minutes before serving.
