Nothing can beat a traditionally prepared bone broth. Here is an easy chicken bone broth recipe. You may replace/add fish bones, lamb, or sheep bones to the recipe. If you are looking to make a larger batch, consider increasing the quantity of the ingredients accordingly. Once done, allow the broth to cool before storing in the refrigerator for using it in your bone broth smoothies.
Ingredients
- 2 pounds of chicken bones, cleaned
- 2 carrots, chopped
- 1 onion, quartered
- ½ bunch fresh parsley
- 2 stalks celery, chopped
- 2 tomatoes
- 4 garlic cloves
- 1 tsp black pepper
- ½ bunch fresh thyme
- 2 bay leaves
Method
- Place bones in a large saucepan and pour filtered water until it is 4 to 6 inches above the ingredients. Cook over medium heat for about 45 minutes until the liquid boils.
- Simmer for about an hour until the broth looks clear. Remove any fat and foamy impurities from the surface occasionally.
- Add remaining ingredients and continue simmering for around an hour and a half.
- Pour the broth through a fine mesh and discard the solids.
