AFS, Supplements, and Natural Lyme Disease Cures

Regain your health with natural Lyme disease curesOnce you have a healthy diet in place that promotes proper nutrition, the next step is to fill in any nutritional gaps with supplements. Sometimes even therapeutic doses may be required to address severe weaknesses. However, if you have AFS or any other condition that can dysregulate your NeuroEndoMetabolic (NEM) stress response, youā€™ll need to take extra care with supplementation. Some supplements, particularly those taken as part of natural Lyme disease cures may cause paradoxical reactions if youā€™re already taking supplements for AFS.

The first rule of supplementing while youā€™re still weak is to avoid the shotgun approachat all costsā€”taking several different supplements at the same time without expert guidance in the hopes that one or some combination will have magical results.

This can seriously backfire, so although we do suggest a few supplements as natural Lyme disease cures, be sure to do your due diligence. Either take only one supplement at a time and observe how your body feels while allowing ample time in between each does to check for reactions, or seek the help of an expert, which is always recommended.

Here are some supplements we recommend as natural Lyme disease cures:

  • Probiotics and prebiotics ā€“ these can help rebuild your microbiome by rebalancing your gut bacteria and maintaining the integrity of your gut lining.
  • Turmeric ā€“ this ancient spice has some of the most powerful anti-inflammatory properties out there.
  • Vitamin D ā€“ if you donā€™t get enough sun, youā€™ll need to take vitamin D3 supplements to boost your immunity and modulate inflammation. A strong immune system should be your most important ally in fighting Lyme disease. Around 20 minutes of sun exposure or 8,000 IUs per day is sufficient unless you have a severe deficiency. You should also make sure to get enough K2, found in grass-fed animal products and fermented foods, so that your body can properly utilize vitamin D.
  • Mushrooms ā€“supplements made out of mushrooms, especially Asian varieties, are powerful immune-boosters.
  • B Complex Vitamins ā€“ these vitamins are can improve your metabolism and any neurological issues you may have, which can both be affected by Lyme disease. Vitamin B deficiencies can contribute to fatigue and aggravate other symptoms of Lyme disease so make sure you get enough through the food you eat or supplementation.
  • Magnesium ā€“ a huge percentage of the population is deficient in magnesium, which can cause nerve and muscle pain. Therefore, consider adding a magnesium supplement into your daily vitamin regimen.
  • Omega-3 Fatty Acids ā€“ these are vital for brain and nervous system health, mood stability, and fighting inflammation. Make sure you get yours from a high-quality fish oil, around 1000 mg per day should be enough.
  • Iodine ā€“ optimizes your immune system, stabilizes your metabolism, and has antimicrobial properties that can fight Lyme disease. You can either take it as a supplement or eat non-commercially harvested seaweeds.

A few other supplements can also be considered as part of natural Lyme disease cures. Ashwagandha can help your body adapt to stress, which is another major issue when dealing with Lyme disease and of course, the central issue in Adrenal Fatigue. Co-enzyme Q10 promotes brain and nervous system function and may help treat fatigue, joint pain, and autoimmunity.

Herbal Remedies and Essential Oils as Natural Lyme Disease Cures

Herbal extracts are also useful for fighting infections and relieving the symptoms of Lyme disease. These include:

  • Catā€™s claw ā€“ fights pathogens;
  • Astragalus ā€“ a pathogen-fighting remedy used in traditional Chinese medicine;
  • Grapefruit seed extract ā€“ can be used topically to relieve itching;
  • Rhodiola ā€“ another adaptogen that helps the body adapt to stress and recover from fatigue;
  • Japanese Knotweed ā€“ directly fights Lyme bacteria.

Colloidal silver is another remedy used for Lyme disease, but has mixed reviews, with some experts hailing it as the most effective option out there whereas others warn of its potential dangers.

A study published in the European Journal of Microbiology and Immunology looked at Stevia whole leaf extract as an agent for fighting Lyme disease bacteria. So far, the results are hopeful, although more conclusive research studies are still needed.

Stevia is a natural sweetener that contains numerous phytochemicalsā€”such as austroinulin, beta-carotene, dulcoside A, nilacin, rebaudi oxides, riboflavin, steviol, stevioside, and tiamin, all of which have strong antimicrobial propertiesā€”and is being researched as a potentially stronger alternative to antibiotics.

Stevia and natural Lyme disease curesThe ability of stevia whole leaf extract to fight all the different morphological forms of Lyme bacteria make it capable of reaching areas where bacteria often hide from more typical antibacterial treatments, therefore, it may be a promising alternative.

Even compared to doxycycline, daptomycin, cefoperazone, and their combinationā€”common antibiotic treatments used to treat Lyme diseaseā€”stevia whole leaf extract was found to be just as effective, if not more so based on certain parameters.

Itā€™s important to note, however, that this remedy isnā€™t the same as the stevia you buy as a sweetener. It is the natural whole leaf extract that is effective. Since it is one of the more natural Lyme disease cures, stevia is quite safe to try, however, if you decide to try it, remember that research is still ongoing and the results are not yet conclusive.

In contrast to remedies, essential oils provide protection against ticks and are much safer than your usual insect-repellents. Clove oil outperforms citronella, with over 90% efficacy in repelling ticks. Just add 8 drops per 1 oz of coconut oil and rub the mixture onto your skin before going hiking or entering gassy or wooded areas. Oregano oil is also effective but must be diluted since it can be quite harsh on your skin.

If you live in an area close to the woods or grassy fields, you may also want to protect your home from ticks. One way to do this is to add 30 drops of vetiver essential oil to a 16 oz spray bottle filled with water and then spray the mixture around doors and windows. Vetiver essential oil is nontoxic and safe for pets and children.

Black seed oil and garlic oil are also extremely effective against ticks. So as you can see, a range of essential oil options exist for preventing Lyme disease and aiding your recovery.

Although these remedies are quite safe, itā€™s best to exercise caution when considering any of the alternative natural Lyme disease cures, especially if your body is weak. The best approach is to first build up your immunity and reduce inflammation through your diet, well-tested supplements, getting the rest you need, and managing your psychological stress.

We also highly recommend consulting with an herbalist or traditional Chinese medicine practitioner to get a personalized nutrition and supplement plan that includes the remedies best suited to you and your current needs.

Stress Management and Lyme Disease

Stress management is the final important part of any natural Lyme disease cures. Psychological stress can aggravate existing health conditions and as you may already know, cause Adrenal Fatigue. Your adrenal glands must be in good shape for your immune system to work properly and fight off Lyme disease, and to neutralize inflammation that may result from your immune response.

Since AFS is caused by chronic stress, one of the top priorities in your recovery plan should be stress management. Also make sure you get enough rest and sleep. To recover from both Lyme disease and AFS, giving your body the time it needs to recuperate and heal is crucial. Forcing yourself to work or perform at full capacity while trying to recover will either lengthen your recovery time or backfire, worsening your condition.

Sleep and natural Lyme disease curesTo ensure a good nightā€™s sleep, keep your room cool and dark, stop using devices at least two hours before bed, eat a light snack before bed so you donā€™t wake up due to low blood sugar, and go to bed early. The hours between 10pm and 2am are the most regenerative for your body.

Some other great stress relievers include therapy, breathing exercises, support groups, meditation, and mild exercise. To aid AFS recovery, adrenal breathing exercises and adrenal yoga are extremely useful and gentle on your body.

Lastly, look out for lesser-known stressors that may be affecting your body without you even knowing it. do you have parasites or mold that need to be taken care of? Are you constantly being exposed to toxins and chemicals from cleaning products, beauty products, or medications?

Make sure you donā€™t stress yourself out by making drastic changes or trying out all the different natural Lyme disease cures at the same time. Take your recovery slowly and seek support where you can. Full recovery from Lyme disease takes time and patience, so donā€™t rush yourself.
