Getting all the nutrition from the food you eat can be difficult. It may seem as if you would have to eat all day just to get all the nutrients you need. But you can streamline this process by drinking energy smoothies. They’re not only an easy way to cram lots of nutrients into one easy-to-drink form, they are delicious too!

The Benefits of Energy Smoothies

A person pouring green smoothie into a glassEnergy smoothies can give you a big shot of nutrition in an easily consumable form. You can take them to work in a bottle and sip it throughout the day or drink it on the run in the car. They’re a good choice when you’re too busy to cook but don’t want to stop by the local takeaway for your meal.

You can also choose specific smoothies based on how they will benefit your body. So, if you’re lacking certain nutrients or experiencing certain symptoms, you can tailor your smoothies to help alleviate the problem. You can also choose smoothies that will help give your body the nutrition it needs to correct problems associated with Adrenal Fatigue Syndrome (AFS).

How Energy Smoothies Can Help AFS

Smoothies may help address AFS symptoms and their main cause: stress. When you’re stressed, your body demands which levels of cortisol from the adrenal glands and activates the NeuroEndoMetabolic (NEM) stress response. This is the natural reaction to stress and ordinarily, it isn’t a problem. But being chronically stressed over a long period is another story. It can cause the adrenals to fatigue and affect the balance and functioning of all the circuits in the NEM stress response. This will result in troubling and frightening symptoms.

Poor nutrition is an all too common cause of stress these days. It leads to nutritional deficiencies, declined functioning, and a host of other symptoms and problems. Eating processed foods that contain few nutrients and lots of toxins is a prime contributor to this problem. By replacing fast food and takeaway, you will not only remove this source of toxins but also give your body more of what it needs to be healthy, which will reduce your stress levels.

Drinking smoothies may also help relieve symptoms that occur as the Bioenergetics Circuit of the NEM stress response goes out of balance in AFS. This circuit includes the liver, pancreas, and thyroid and they help support and direct the metabolism functions. As this circuit becomes imbalanced, each of these components will start to malfunction and degrade. This will cause additional stress, worsening AFS, and symptoms such as:

  • Low energy levels
  • Obesity or weight problems
  • Metabolic dysregulation
  • Hypoglycemia or diabetes
  • Insulin resistance
  • Problems with insulin and blood sugar levels
  • Dysbiosis and leaky gut
  • Inflammation

These problems will worsen your health and adrenal fatigue. That’s why you must look for easy strategies that will boost the health of the Bioenergetics Circuit. And energy smoothies may help you do that.

Delicious Energy Smoothies

When you are feeling better, you can use almost any ingredient in energy smoothies, so adjust these recipes as necessary or to suit your tastes. Use organic cow’s milk, goat's milk, or any other dairy substitute that you prefer. If you use protein powder, then make sure that you use one that’s clean and free of fillers. If you are feeling lots of the symptoms mentioned above, then you need to be cautious in what you put in the smoothies. It's best to avoid anything that your body is sensitive to. You can always use milk substitutes instead of cow's milk. Also, be aware of trying to put some protein into the smoothies so you don't get a sugar blast from drinking these smoothies.  You can also add additional greens to your energy smoothies to increase fiber and phytonutrient intake.
