Adrenal fatigue often worsens or surfaces previously hidden allergies and sensitivities so even foods that were never a problem previously my begin to create challenges, and milk is a prime example for many people.

Almond MilkIf you love milk, but not how you feel after drinking it, almond milk can be a great alternative, though it doesnā€™t contain as much fiber as almonds or as much calcium as cowā€™s milk.

The consistency of almond milk is similar to cowā€™s milk, but the taste is lighter and crisper. If you havenā€™t tried almond milk because you donā€™t care for cowā€™s milk, you might be pleasantly surprised. Because the consistency is so similar, almond milk can be easily used in place of milk in recipes, though the taste may not be quite the same.
Though it may not have quite as much calcium as cowā€™s milk, almond milk does offer some, an 8 ounce serving offers about 30% of what you need each day, along with about 25% of vitamin D. This combination helps keep your bones and teeth strong and boosts your immune system to help you fight off illness.

Almond milk contains no cholesterol or saturated fat, low sodium, and high levels of healthy fats, including omega-3 fatty acids that help protect your heart and brain. With fewer calories than even skim milk (60 calories per serving vs 86 calories per serving), almond milk can be a great way to help you manage your weight.

When you suffer from adrenal fatigue, you may be plagued by dry skin, rashes, or other skin related symptoms. A serving of almond milk contains about half the antioxidant vitamin E needed for healthy, glowing skin.

Almond milk alone only contains one gram of protein, but is rich in iron and B vitamins. In this recipe, the egg provides plenty of protein, making this a fantastic way to build strong, healthy muscles.

In addition, natural almond milk has a low glycemic index and will not significantly impact blood sugar levels. However, if you buy your almond milk, be sure to check the label. Some varieties of almond milk may contain added sugars or other ingredients that you donā€™t need when trying to recover from adrenal fatigue. The refined sugars cause spikes in blood sugar which the body instinctively reacts to, triggering a stress reaction to bring blood sugar back into balance. Since the bodyā€™s stress responses have already been maxed out and worn down into dysfunction, the attempted stress response can easily crash the body, triggering an acute worsening of adrenal fatigue and perhaps leaving the sufferer bedridden. Sticking with almond milk that has no such added sugars prevents such issues from occurring.

Coconut oil contains lauric acid, which has been shown effective in killing bacteria, viruses, and fungi, making this recipe an immune boosting powerhouse. The coconut oil in this recipe increases absorption of vitamin D and other fat soluble vitamins.

The medium chain triglycerides (MCT) in coconut oil are also great for building muscle. MCT can also help improve memory as it can be easily used by the brain for energy.

MCT in coconut oil is easily digested and does not require pancreatic enzymes to be used for energy, so it helps ease stress on the pancreas. MCT also helps regulate insulin reactions within the cells and helps to stabilize blood sugar levels.
