Give Your Adrenals The Support They Need With Adrenal Rescue

Evidence-based Reviewed Article

An image of three bottles of Adrenal Rescue supplementThe two little glands situated on your kidneys take a beating throughout your lifetime. Yet without them, our bodies would not be able to function correctly. This is because they produce hormones that help with the regulation of our immune system, blood pressure levels, and even metabolism. Not to mention the many other functions they fulfill during the course of a day. To give these two glands the support they need, you might consider taking Adrenal Rescue.

Adrenal Rescue is a natural supplement that provides your body with the building blocks it needs to support adrenal glands in a state of stress. At the same time, however, the supplement also provides liver support that encourages your liver to function as it should.

How Adrenal Rescue Provides Adrenal Support

Your adrenal glands play a role in more than just hormone production. They play an important function in your body’s NeuroEndoMetabolic (NEM) stress response. This stress response, governed by the Hypothalamic-Pituitary-Adrenal (HPA) axis, allows your body to deal with stressful situations.

Once the brain perceives stress, whether from an internal or external source, the HPA axis sends chemical messengers that cause the NEM stress response to spring into action so that your body can deal with the situation. Your adrenals then produce more cortisol, your heart rate increases, your breathing pattern is affected, and your body, as a whole, prepares itself to either fight or run away from the stressor - the "fight or flight" response.

All body systems, including your gut and immune system, become involved in this process. Inflammation may arise due to your immune response. This common occurrence tells you your body is fighting to protect you.

Prolonged stress, however, means this type of activity carries on and does not stop, as it does with short-term stress. As a result, the adrenals must strive to keep up their elevated cortisol production and can become fatigued. Adrenal Fatigue Syndrome (AFS) happens when the body's stress response cannot keep up with life's chronic stressors. This condition has many possible symptoms that seem unrelated. As your body progresses through the four stages of AFS, symptoms worsen. The latter stages of AFS, accompanied by a vast decrease in the adrenals’ ability to produce sufficient cortisol, have very serious symptoms that could leave you incapacitated.

Using Adrenal Rescue

Taking care of adrenal health with a natural supplement like Adrenal Rescue may help you reduce your risk of adrenal fatigue or help to improve the situation. Adrenal Rescue, due to its unique blend of herbs, glandulars, vitamins, and more, helps to address a wide variety of issues commonly associated with adrenal fatigue. In other words, it provides a holistic experience that address the entire body as well as adrenal function.

Adrenal Rescue Ingredients Benefits

Adrenal Rescue contains a variety of beneficial ingredients specifically incorporated to provide adrenal support.

Vitamin C

Your body needs vitamin C for many functions. This powerful antioxidant plays a role in immune system support, and cartilage, collagen, and blood vessel formation. It is vital in all healing processes within your body.

The adrenal glands are amongst your body’s organs with the highest levels of vitamin C.1 It helps to maintain normal adrenal function by reducing the harmful effects of long-term high cortisol production.

Your body needs vitamin C to absorb iron, a nutrient essential for healthy blood production.

Pantothenic Acid

An image of white powder in a scoopPantothenic acid, i.e., vitamin B5, plays an essential role in the formation of red blood cells. It also plays a key role in the production of sex and stress hormones in the adrenal glands.3 This vitamin also helps ensure your adrenal glands do not produce too much cortisol.

The vitamin also plays a role in energy creation by breaking down carbohydrates and fats.

Pantothenic acid is a precursor in coenzyme A (CoA) production. CoA plays a key role in numerous biochemical reactions throughout the body. These include those dealing with metabolism, cell growth, and neurotransmitter activity.4 Neurotransmitters are your HPA axis's chemical messengers to issue instructions to the NEM stress response mechanism.

Milk Thistle Extract

Milk thistle extract is derived from the seeds of the milk thistle plant (Silybum marianum), a flowering herb native to the Mediterranean region. It has been used for centuries as a natural remedy for various ailments.

The primary component of milk thistle extract is silymarin, a complex of flavonoids. It's reputed to offer hepatoprotective qualities, supporting liver health.

Milk thistle’s intestinal action includes its ability to balance your intestinal flora levels and thus promote gut health. This is especially important for those in the latter stages of adrenal fatigue where your gut health has likely been compromised. Adrenal Rescue includes milk thistle for improved gut microbiome balance.

Adrenal Tissue

Extracted from bovine adrenal tissue, this addition is often used to help promote proper adrenal function. The extract is often used to address stress, fatigue, and issues relating to adrenal fatigue. Glandulars like adrenal tissue have long been used in supplements like Adrenal Rescue to address these and other issues relating to adrenal fatigue.

N-Acetyl Cysteine (NAC)

People use NAC for a variety of health issues. These include increasing muscle performance and managing liver problems.6 NAC, sourced from L-cysteine, an amino acid, boasts considerable strength in its properties. Its multifaceted nature extends beyond its origin, making it a versatile substance with various applications.

In the adrenals, it could increase the expression of melanocortin receptor type 2 (MC2R). MC2R plays a role in maintaining proper adrenal function, especially steroidogenesis.7 This involves the conversion of cholesterol into steroid hormones.

A hormone imbalance, with its subsequent health issues, is one of the typical signs of adrenal fatigue. NAC may thus support adrenal health and fight Adrenal Fatigue Syndrome due to its ability to enhance MC2R expression, which has a balancing effect on hormone production.

Artichoke Extract (Leaf)

Artichoke extract, derived from the leaves of the artichoke plant (Cynara cardunculus), is a popular herbal supplement known for its potential health benefits. It contains various compounds, including cynarin, chlorogenic acid, and luteolin, which are believed to contribute to its beneficial health properties.

R-Lipoic Acid

Although you find R-lipoic acid in many foods, your body is also able to manufacture it. You find it in every cell in your body. It plays a significant role in converting glucose into energy, is a strong antioxidant, and helps to improve your body’s glycemic profile.10 It is often suggested that overweight people use this nutrient as it may promote weight loss.

Ashwagandha Root

An image of a powdered Ashwagandha root in a white bowl and a couple of Ashwagandha rootsAn adaptogenic herb, ashwagandha root may help address stress, anxiety, and sleep issues while enhancing your general well-being.12 The whitanolides and alkaloids found in ashwagandha may address your stress triggers at the root, i.e., the HPA axis, which modulates the release of cortisol in the adrenal glands. This means that it could either suppress cortisol production or increase it, depending on what your body considers healthy levels. So, if you have adrenal fatigue, it could discourage the production of cortisol during the initial stages while encouraging production in the latter stages associated with lower cortisol production.

Licorice Root

Licorice root, derived from the Glycyrrhiza glabra plant, has a long history of use in various traditional medicine systems, particularly in Asian and Middle Eastern cultures. It's known for its sweet flavor and is often used as a natural sweetener in candies, teas, and herbal remedies. Licorice root contains several compounds, including glycyrrhizin, which gives it its characteristic taste and also provides potential health benefits.

Maca Root

Maca root shows strong antioxidant activity and may promote a balanced immune response. It may also help balance hormone levels. Maca root is rich in essential vitamins and minerals, including vitamin C, copper, iron, potassium, and manganese. It also contains various bioactive compounds, such as alkaloids and glucosinolates.

Maca is often classified as an adaptogen, which means it may help the body adapt to stress and maintain homeostasis. Some people use it to boost energy levels, enhance endurance, and improve resilience to stress.

Rhodiola Rosea

Rhodiola rosea has myriad health benefits. It may increase both mental and physical performance.

The plant has an adaptogenic effect. This means it has a balancing effect on your body and can thus help normalize various functions in your body, including mental health, physical performance, anxiety, reproductive issues, and cardiovascular issues.16

A Word Of Caution Before Taking Adrenal Rescue

If you have side effects of diarrhea, abdominal discomfort, over stimulation, insomnia, jittery, anxiousness from taking Adrenal Rescue, then be sure to stop taking it and consult your health coach. The various ingredients, when taken in large doses, could do more harm than good in those in the later stages of adrenal fatigue. Also, if you have any pre-existing health issues or use chronic medications, first talk to your healthcare provider or nutritional coach before considering this supplement. They are best able to determine its suitability and dosage.
